Zwickl and Kellerbier
Term from the Brauwerkstatt brewing glossary, category “Beer styles”.
Explanation
Unfiltered, naturally cloudy lagers with low carbonation, fresh and yeasty. The name Zwickl comes from the sampling tap (Zwickel) on the lagering tank, which the brewmaster uses to draw samples. Kellerbier (cellar beer) comes from Franconia and was once served straight from the cask in the beer cellar. Typical: 4.7–5.4 % ABV, 20–35 IBU.
