Sour beer (Berliner Weisse and Gose)

Term from the Brauwerkstatt brewing glossary, category “Beer styles”.

Explanation

Beers with a refreshing acidity from lactic acid bacteria. Berliner Weisse is light (around 3 % ABV) and is often drunk with syrup; Gose from Goslar and Leipzig contains coriander and salt. Sour beers need their own tubes and equipment so the bacteria do not get into other beers.
